I hunched over Yoos’ table trying to sharpen my pencil. I jabbed my pencil in “Bzzt”. Duck glanced at me.”The wind blew open the door last night” he said. He followed my stare, and then crunched on his Digestive. I frowned at the black box. “That must be why you woke up late”. He nodded.
“Why?” I asked, leaning back into my chair. He began to tap his knee, “I.. well. It was cold I supposed”, he said. He gazed out the door.

Kimo’s hair flapped as he clasped the pole. . “We need to get to the monkey bars”  he said, trying to keep his eyes open. The submarine growled again, and again. Hover slumped on the stairs, leaning on his hands. He stared at the wafer packets. Kimo frowned “Hover” he said, bearing his teeth, “You can’t just keep wallowing about them ” Kimo strangled the pole. “You have to let go” he said. His eyes softened “There’s no time for that stuff.”.
Hover brushed his hands on the wall and looked up. “No”. He pulled himself up and bared his teeth. “I need to taste the strawberry, the melon, and the lemon ones”. The stairs creaked. Kimo took a deep breath, and stared as Hover jumped off the stairs and scattered to the corner.  Both boys looked up and then stared at each other.. The lights began to flicker.

Nemo blushed and looked down. “When the king dies” he said, clearing his throat.
I bit my nails. “What happens?”
“It goes to the brother” Yoo said/ Nemo looked away. “No”
“It becomes a problem, it should go to his son” ..

Yoo ran out the laundry door. He waved her hands at the birds, who flattered into the air. “Go away”. He frowned at the table of plants. Seeds spread over the floor. I rushed to the door. The wind taking my breath away. I waved at him”You’re going to get wet”. He advancaed holding on the bars. “No!”

Hover watched the water trickle, and laughed. “”Doing!”. The lightning got worse. “I think I have epilepsy” I said to Piko in the morning. He patted me on the back “Why?,” he asked.  I turned to gaze at the bulge against the window. The curtains halted the wind from rushing in. “I keep seeing bursts of light”, I said, adjusting my posture. His teeth tightened on the glass.  I got up and turned towards the door.  Piko wouldn’t understand that anyway.  He looked up as I reached for the doorknob. “Wait,” he said, “”When was that?”. I turned my head, and paused. “Last night”, I said, staring at the bulge. Piko grinned “Silly”. His face collapsed in his hands. My head tilted sidewards,  and I stood there frowning “Are you laughing?”.  He pointed his index finger at me shaking from underneath. He caught his breath, and pulled his face out. He blushed. “I’m sorr” he said, bursting into another laughter. My frown disappeared, and I looked down at Koala. He gaped at the whole scene, shoving all his food out. I scratched my head. “It wasn’t as funny as this last night”. So I resumed my pause, and opened that doorknob. He stopped laughing for a second, and looked up. But I shut the door.  Koala needed to eat.

When you think how much they value memories, and then it’s all gone. I jumped out of bed, and rushed to the window. The cars were leaving already. The white turned the corner first and then the black followed. I thought they said 9 or 10. How could it be? I leaned out the window sill. “Hey!”. The last limousine paused at the gate. A little figure leaned on the glass window. He pointed right at me. Why didn’t he say something?. My heart buzzed. And then in the end it’s as if it was only half a day.

“Maybe there’s a better way to do this”

I jumped and threw my hands up.  I turned around. The door was closed, and the dust slept.
